Educated, worked and lived in countries where English and Chinese are official languages, Gene is well versed in Mandarin, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, English and Japanese languages, culture and history. She is passionate about bridging the gap between Western and Eastern culture and languages.
Gene is the 1st qualified DPSI interpreter ever in the language pair of English <> Mandarin (Traditional Chinese) in the UK. Previously, only Mandarin (Simplified Chinese) was used in this language pair of the DPSI Level-6 qualification exam.
Qualified & Experienced
Gene is a professional conference interpreter, qualified court interpreter, certified translator as well as interpreting and translation trainer, and Public Service Interpreting (PSI) and Community Interpreting (CI) assessor who excels at helping clients with her language services and consultation in/between English and Mandarin (Traditional and Simplified).
Moreover, she is a singer-songwriter and ethnomusicologist. She gave presentations of her papers or research at international academic and professional conferences.
